Posted by: Siobhan B on 2008-11-09, 05:03:36 Yoga is good for your mental health it allows you to control breathing and gives you time to chill out. Making time for yourself is vital, have a bath, paint your nails or read a book or go for a drive, having time just for yourself is a great way of centering your self. When you are in the mist of a stressful situation closer your eyes count to ten and think about something else and then try and deal with one thing at a time. I hope this helps i know how hard stress is xxx |

Posted by: ♥ on 2008-11-09, 05:00:37 I think you should just let it all out cause there's only so much you can take before you breakdown , so you just stay inside for a while ignore everything that's stressing you and clear your mind and don't worry things Will GET BETTER BEFORE THEY GET WORSE . GOOD LUCK ! |

Posted by: Raven H on 2008-11-09, 05:00:45 Hitting stuff always helped me. But not pillows, that doesn't help much. Some good exercise like sit-ups and stuff help too. Try to get outta your house, and maybe take up yoga. Sounds silly I know, but it's supposed to help a lot. Also, set aside about 15 minutes a day for you to meditate and not do much of anything, it helps me so much. (It's hard to not do anything for awhile when you're used to being busy, but it really refreshes you and helps clear your mind so start with 5 minutes one week, 10 the next, then 15.) |

Posted by: Vinyl on 2008-11-09, 05:01:20 Hi Becki, This is not a drug: Rhodiola Rosea is a wonder plant. When I'm stressed out a couple capsules bring me back to normal levels. The world still spins around me but this stuff is amazing to calm me and make me feel normal and at peace. Doesn't make me high or mellow in the least. RR is an adaptogen and naturally balances adrenal hormones so that if they got too high they're lowered, and too low they're raised. (I like Gaia herbs liquid caps becasue they work fast but others are good too). Methylcobalamin is a form of B12 which is absorbed better and works faster to make one normal in crazy times. I favor the sublingual from Twinlab. B12 is often lacking in women, stressed out people, the sick and the elderly. For techniques you could buy a relaxation CD or do some slow breathing. Or tune into youtube and search for "Meditation Music ", there's some good de-stress ones out there. Please give Rhodiola a chance, you'll be glad you did! It's a natural herb (and rejuvenating at that!) and I guarantee you if you try it for the first time in 20 years from now, you'll feel bad for not having tried it now. So why not give it a try? Let me find a coupon for you. |

Posted by: havenfun on 2008-11-09, 05:02:45 A few glasses of red wine is good for you. It has heaps of proven benefits, and it will make you feel relaxed. Not getting written off, but just having a drink at night is not a bad thing. Anything is relaxing if that is where your head is at. It is about turning off the stressors and finding balance. Get something you love and plan it. Look forward to it and go and have you time every now and again. Once again, dont shirk responsibility, but life is about finding balance. Spend some time doing something you love with friends. |

Posted by: shaneris5 on 2008-11-09, 05:05:04 See stress treatments, at ezy build, below, in section 42. A certain level of stress is unavoidable, in modern society, so it is a good idea to develop effective coping methods. Light to moderate daily exercise helps fight stress. For some people, it helps to visualise of a quiet, relaxing scene, (Imagine, as vividly as you can, that you are on a tropical beach, reclining comfortably; you luxuriate, as the the sun warms you, and a gentle breeze caresses your skin lightly, inhaling the tangy, sea scented, salt laden spray from the sparkling, translucent, aqua waves, crashing on the white, coral beach sand, and feeling the hot sand slip through your fingers in one hand, sipping your favorite drink with the other; all the while, the seagulls call, swoop and cavort playfully overhead in a cloudless, azure sky: you feel just like one of them, free to soar and cartwheel, or just glide in the moist, heavy air, and that this moment will last forever ... ). Try: mayoclinic/ health/ meditation/ ... & amazon.com/ Sounds-Of-The-Ocea... Other suggestions: secretsofmeditation.com/ demo.... and the audio, as well as the printed version, at: lessons4living.com/ relaxation... and amazon.com/ Ambient-Rain-Sound... or the mountain river sounds. Take 4 Omega 3 fish oil supplements, daily: (certified free of mercury) it is best if consumed with an antioxidant, such as an orange, or grapefruit, or their FRESHLY SQUEEZED juice. If vitamin E is added, it should be certified as being 100% from natural sources, or it may be synthetic: avoid it. Ginseng & Lady's Slipper are recommended herbal remedies. Practise daily, one of the relaxation techniques on pages 2, 11, 2c, or 2i; whichever works best for you, but the mindfulness breathing for 15 - 20 mns is ideal, although the progressive muscle relaxation can be learned quickly, and takes only several minutes, if pressed for time. Repeat: "I feel calm " and/ or "I can handle this. " Employ the EFT version for use in public, for which you can reasonably claim that you have a headache, as you massage/ tap your temples, but it may be advisable to restrict yourself to subvocalising (saying it to yourself, in your mind, not aloud). Section 53, and pages 2, 2.q and 2.o refer. "Even though I sometimes suffer from stress, I deeply and completely accept myself ". A variant of EMDR: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy, which has been used successfully for those people suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, insomnia, and anxiety, is shown in section 42, on page i, at ezy-build.net.nz/ ~shaneris I have found that the 2 - 3 minutes spent using the EMDR markedly reduces distractions to the relaxation process, and is repaid many times over. You can also multitask, using the gazing technique, as you walk/ jog or exercise, by focusing on a distant object, or just focus awareness on how each step feels, noting any thoughts which flash across your mind, without pursuing any particular train of thought, just gently redirect your focus to the task at hand. For you, or others: A massage (at least neck and shoulders) with jasmine, lavender, juniper, and/ or bergamot, or German chamomile essential oils added to the massage oil, and to a warm bath, preferably beforehand, to help make any tension knots and muscles more pliant (they may only want, say, a juniper and/ or bergamot and/ or sandalwood mix: check first). I am aware of advice that strong heat, applied to essential oils can damage them, and so I would not use a diffuser. Also consider anise, basil, bay, eucalyptus, peppermint, rose, or thyme. Place some pieces of rock salt in a small vial, then add a few drops of the oil of your choice (the rock salt absorbs the oil and is less risky to carry around than a bottle of oil). Open the vial and breathe in the scent whenever you need a quick stress release. See if they will do long, stretching yoga exercises, or t'ai chi with you (view section 2, at ezy build).
